The E4OD is the automatic behind most OBS 7.3s, and it is the weak point of the drivetrain when the truck tows. Heat is what kills them, so a transmission that has spent its life pulling a trailer without an adequate cooler is usually the one being replaced.
Supplied as a matched transmission and converter set. That pairing matters — a rebuilt transmission behind a tired converter is a common way to fail a rebuild early, because a converter that is shedding debris will contaminate the new unit.
