Three-bolt starter for the 7.3L Power Stroke.
A diesel of this size asks a great deal of its starter, and a tired one shows up first on cold mornings — slow cranking, a click with no crank, or a start that needs two attempts. Because slow cranking also prevents the glow plug system from doing its job, a weak starter often gets misdiagnosed as a glow plug fault.
Check the battery cables and grounds before replacing the starter. Corroded cables produce identical symptoms and are cheaper to fix.
