Mishimoto 68 mm bar-and-plate intercooler kit with 3.0 in piping for the 2017–2019 6.6L Duramax L5P.
The L5P is a capable engine out of the box, which is exactly why its charge cooling is worth attention: the limits show up under sustained load rather than in short bursts.
This kit centres on a 68 mm-thick bar-and-plate intercooler — around 70% thicker than the factory unit — with cast aluminium end tanks, and it ships with 3.0 in mandrel-bent piping.
The point of the extra thickness is heat capacity under load: more core means the charge temperature climbs more slowly when the truck is pulling hard in the heat.
