Apex Chassis ProLock heavy-duty tie rod kit in DOM steel, matte black powder coated for the 2005–2026 Ford Super Duty.
Ford's Super Duty steering works well enough on pavement. Off it, or worked hard, the factory tie rods are the part that gives — and a truck that has started to death-wobble usually has slop in them.
Apex's ProLock kit replaces them with a noticeably stronger assembly, and the feel tightens up with it.
This version is built in DOM steel, matte black powder coated. Apex offer the kit in steel and in two aluminium finishes; they carry different part numbers and different prices.
Apex build these on an SAE 1045 solid forged steel housing, CNC machined so the bearing bores are dimensionally correct rather than subject to die wear. The ball studs are SAE 4140 hot-forged chromoly, induction heat treated to a controlled depth, polished to anti-friction bearing tolerances, and the threads are rolled rather than cut.
