Merchant Automotive rear housing support for the Allison transmission in the 2011–2019 GM 6.6L Duramax.
A vibration as minor as a worn U-joint can crack the rear housing of an Allison transmission. It is a disproportionate failure — a cheap part upstream destroying an expensive one downstream.
Merchant Automotive developed this support specifically to prevent it. It is an inexpensive piece of insurance against a repair that is anything but.
It is worth fitting at the same time as any driveline work, when the area is already accessible.
