Motorcraft camshaft position sensor for the OBS 7.3L Power Stroke.
The CPS is the part every 7.3 owner is told to carry a spare of, and the advice is sound. When it fails the engine simply stops — often without warning and sometimes while driving — and it will not restart until the sensor is replaced. Failures are frequently heat-related, so a truck that dies warm and restarts an hour later is the textbook case.
It is a ten-minute job at the front of the engine, which is why keeping a spare in the glovebox is the standard recommendation on this platform.
This is the OBS-specification sensor. Later 1997–2003 trucks moved to F7TZ-12K073-A; confirm which your truck takes before ordering.
