Alliant Power glow plug relay for the 7.3L Power Stroke.
The relay switches power to all eight glow plugs. When it fails the plugs never energise, and the truck behaves exactly as though every plug has burned out — hard cold starting, white smoke, a rough first minute.
That identical presentation is why the relay is worth testing before buying a set of eight plugs. It is also the cheaper part by a wide margin, so it is the sensible place to start.
