A turbodiesel makes charge air hot before it makes power. The intercooler is what takes that heat back out, and what it gives back is denser air into the cylinder, lower exhaust gas temperature and a truck that does not lose its composure halfway up a grade with a trailer behind it.

Banks' Techni-Cooler for the LB7 replaces the factory cooler with a higher-flowing unit designed to drop charge temperature and, with it, exhaust gas temperature.

Banks sells the Techni-Cooler as a system rather than a bare core: the intercooler, the charge piping, the boots and the clamps, so nothing in the charge air path is left as the weak link.
