The 6.0L Power Stroke arrived in 2003 with a Garrett variable-vane turbocharger — vanes inside the housing move to make the turbo behave like a small frame low down and a large one higher up. The known weakness is soot: it packs around the vanes until they stick in one position, and the turbo stops varying anything.

Garrett refined these turbos over the years. These are new units direct from Garrett carrying the current revisions, rather than a rebuild of the original design a truck left the factory with — and by now those factory warranties are long gone.

Fitment on the 6.0L splits by engine build date and serial number, not just by model year, so check yours against the range for this part before ordering.
